The program, in line with the vision of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, to invest in human resources and prepare qualified national personnel, has selected 14 shortlisted male trainees with the intention of eventually integrating some of them into SNOC.

“The commitment to train and educate young people is a vital part of any nation’s society and we are delighted that this collaboration has been ratified. The program will empower and prepare our competent young nationals to lead the country’s future in the energy sector,” states H.H. Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah. “This initiative will improve the trainees’ personal abilities and qualify them to integrate into SNOC, and will include the study and implementation of HSE procedures, one of the priorities at the corporation”.

SNOC is using a training center fitted out with the latest technologies to implement the program, which includes visits to operational facilities, practical tasks and workshop activities. The curriculum for NDP 1 is being sourced from the Centre of Excellence for Applied Research & Training (CERT), the commercial and training arm of the Higher Colleges of Technology.

“This collaboration pays tribute to the importance of investing in young people, and we are delighted to be hosting the trainees as part of the overall team. The labor market is still in chronic need of skilled and qualified national trainees, and we at SNOC must do our part in helping the new generation to participate in growth development and allowing them to be future leaders,” said Hatem Al Mosa, SNOC CEO.

The performance of trainees has been monitored and evaluated throughout the program and has thus far produced an exceptionally high average score of 85% and above. On completion, SNOC intends to select graduates who have shown outstanding results to work for the company. Students who will not be selected to work at SNOC, will be given the chance to work at other government organizations.

Mohammed Ahmed Al-Haddi, Human Resources Manager at SNOC, said, “The trainees will receive many practical benefits during the program, where experienced SNOC personnel will share their experiences and expertise in the field of oil and gas so that they can become an added value to SNOC.”

Phase 2 of the NDP program is being planned to potentially commence during the second half of 2020, a four to six-month program that will take on a shortlist of university graduates, this time including females and focusing on accounting and finance skills.
